Microplastics found in humans

Research results presented at the United European Gastroenterology meeting in Vienna, Austria (20-24/10/18) have found traces of microplastics in humans. Researchers led by Dr Phillip Scwabl of the Medical university of Vienna, looked for microplastics in stool samples of eight people from Finland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, the United Kingdom and Austria. Every single sample tested positive for the presence of a variety of microplastics. Dr Stephanie Wright, MRC-funded early-career research fellow in the MRC-PHE Centre for Environment and Health and the Environmental Research Group has commented on the study as reported in the The Daily Telegraph, Times, Daily Mail, Metro, New York TimesChina Daily, Deccan Chronicle , The Week CNN, Wired and NDTV.
