MRC Fellowships

The MRC Centre for Environment and Health is pleased to invite applications for its Early Career Fellowship Programme. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the leading research centres in the UK and internationally for multidisciplinary research and training on environment and health sciences.

We are seeking two ambitious, exceptional candidates with a PhD and experience in research on environment and health and with strong quantitative skills. The aim of these fellowships is to support the fellows to develop as competitive, independent researchers and to provide a platform to fulfil their long term career goals.

You will be based at Imperial College London in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics or in the Respiratory Epidemiology Group at the National Heart and Lung Institute.

You are required to produce a research proposal describing your plans to carry out a challenging and ambitious programme of research in one of the Centre’s core research areas. • Environmental Epidemiology and Exposure Sciences
  • Molecular Epidemiology
  • Spatial Epidemiology, including small-area and GIS
  • Biostatistics, Computational Biology and Data Science
  • Climate Change and Health

      Multidisciplinary cross-Centre proposals are encouraged.

Applications will be assessed on the quality of the research proposal, on the candidate’s standing as demonstrated by the extent to which they meet the personal criteria in the job description, and on their potential to develop an independent research career.

Duties and responsibilities

You will be responsible for the development of your independent research programme, establishing collaborations with other Centre staff and external partners where relevant, under the supervision of your chosen mentor. You will be expected to present your work at significant conferences, to publish in high-quality international peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to the preparation of research grants and Fellowship proposals.
